Youth Café

Youth Café

Desart Hall Youth Centre is a hub of activity for young people in Kilkenny. All of our drop-in groups are open to all secondary school young people, where they can make friends, learn new skills, take part in fun activities or just chill and enjoy the free wifi. As all our drop-in times are supported by youth worker staff, you can ask questions, get help or just come hang out in a safe and secure environment.

Friday Night Youth Cafe

Our youth cafe in Desart Hall Youth Centre opens from 7-9pm every friday night. With an average of 35 young people attending, it continues to grow in popularity. Young people take on leadership roles such as running the cafe and providing music, giving them ownership of the space. There is plenty to do on Friday nights with pool tournaments, table tennis tournaments, movie nights, workshops, fashion and beauty and lots more. The cafe is open and serves up lost of tasty and affordable treats makign the ideal place to come and hang out with friends for the catch up and gossip!

Saturday Youth Café

Our youth cafe is also open on a Saturday offering young people a safe, fun environment to hang out, eat good food, listen to music, avail of free wifi and make new friends.

The cafe opens every Saturday from 1.30-5.30pm and serves good-quality, reasonably priced food and snacks. It is staffed each week by members of the Youthink youth group and Rebecca will always be there if you need help or want to get involved in whats happening in the youth centre. There is often live music on an acoustic stage so this gives local young bands and singers a chance to showcase their talent.

The youth café, run by young people for young people is a great place to spend Saturday afternoon and offers an opportunity for young people who voluntarily staff the cafe, to increase their employability skills and gain work experience.

Any young person from any musical genre, or even a stand-up comedian, who would like the opportunity to perform to other young people can contact Patrick at Ossory Youth at 056 7761200.
